According to a 2013 study, The NHS Information Evolution, produced by the Intellect trade body, voice of the British IT industry, for too long NHS IT has been designed and implemented locally. And while these systems have worked perfectly well in a limited context, the important information in them has often been difficult to access, either internally within Trusts or by other Trusts and fellow health and social care institutions.
