Founded in 2003, SynApps provides software, consultancy, implementation and support services for Alfresco and OpenText Documentum and has authored a suite of content integration and migration solutions, ConXApps, that allow businesses to quickly maximise their investment in ECM technologies.

In the healthcare sector, SynApps in conjunction with its partners, is a pioneer in advanced vendor-neutral archives. These are transforming the way NHS Trusts provide the whole patient record (DICOM/non-DICOM) to clinicians via existing EPR systems and share the records with other healthcare providers in the local community and potentially nationally.
Meet the Team
James Paton - Chief Executive Officer
James has worked at the front line of the IT industry for almost 20 years, spending the last 15 delivering transformational enterprise content management (ECM) solutions to a broad spectrum of organisations. The launch of his career coincided with the early days of the internet, so James started out working with ISPs and telecoms companies before going on to join Documentum’s Northern European consulting team. Since then he has been responsible for the delivery of both small- and large-scale deployments of a number of sophisticated ECM solutions across a range of vertical sectors. These have included government, healthcare and financial services.
James’s core skills include ECM requirements definition, solution architecting, enterprise architecture and project delivery. He is responsible for the ongoing development of our customer support service offering and the management and direction of the SynApps customer support team.
Jim Fullerton - Chief Financial Officer
Jim has held senior positions in a variety of industrial sectors throughout his 30-year commercial career. A Fellow of both the Institute of Financial Accountants and the Association of International Accountants, he has developed and delivered marketing, sales, procurement and general business strategies for several successful companies. In addition to financial management roles, Jim has owned and operated various independently-authorised and regulated financial services businesses.
Jim holds ISO qualifications, and has devised procedures and implemented a range of international standards in both professional services and manufacturing environments. His diverse range of skills and experience fully complement the growth and development aspirations of SynApps Solutions.
Jason Scholes - Chief Technology Officer
Jason has worked in the IT industry for over 25 years and, in addition to being a founding director at SynApps Solutions he is a senior solutions architect with a hands-on role in the company. During the early part of his career he worked primarily within the financial services arena, holding consulting and solution delivery positions at Citymax and Credit Suisse. He then joined Documentum’s Northern European Consulting team where he stayed for more than six years before co-founding SynApps.
Jason is a highly-respected architect and has led the design and successful delivery of numerous enterprise content management (ECM) solutions to a large number of customers across a range of industry sectors. He has extensive skills in large-scale systems infrastructure design and implementation, solution design and delivery. His current focus is the design and implementation of vendor-neutral archive (VNA) solutions for the healthcare sector.
Paul Edwards - Co-Founder
Paul has almost 20 years’ IT consulting experience, giving him extensive first-hand experience of companies’ strategic needs from enterprise content management (ECM) projects. During his career he has worked for Logica and Documentum, before co-founding SynApps Solutions. In his time Paul has led and delivered major ECM projects to more than 60 customers, covering web-content management, document management and knowledge management applications and services.
Paul’s skills cover the full project lifecycle, from requirements-gathering and planning to implementation, testing and solution delivery. At SynApps his particular areas of focus are solution architecting, business application design and system integration for complex, large-scale Documentum and Alfresco ECM platforms.
Chris Brice - Director Sales & Marketing
Chris has been at the forefront of major trends in the software industry for 20+ years. An MBA-qualified leader with deep business development and marketing credentials, Chris joined SynApps Solutions in 2018 as its Director of Sales & Marketing.
Chris bring extensive enterprise software expertise to the SynApps team particularly around Enterprise Content Management, Microsoft Office 365/SharePoint and Cloud platforms including Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure Cloud.
Prior to SynApps Solutions, Chris held a variety of senior management positions at companies including SharePoint specialist, Bramble Effect and Capita Software Services where he led the ECM Solutions business providing content management and workflow solutions for Local Authorities, Social Housing, and the Regulated Sectors.
