SynApps Solutions has successfully completed the migration of more than 120 million medical record documents for Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, helping the Trust modernise a critical electronic medical records archive while maintaining uninterrupted clinical access throughout the project.
The Trust’s archive, built on OpenText technology and in use since 2015, was running on storage infrastructure approaching end of life. The migration involved transferring documents, renditions, legal copies and metadata to a modern storage environment without downtime, data loss or disruption to day-to-day operations.
Working alongside the Trust’s IT and records management teams, SynApps deployed migration-center from fme AG to automate and manage the migration process across a high-availability NHS environment spanning multiple data centres.
The migration was delivered in parallel with live operations, with continuous validation of migrated records and metadata throughout the project.
John Baines, Senior Systems Administrator at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, said:
“Migrating over 120 million patient records without disrupting access was a critical requirement for us. SynApps brought the structure, tooling and experience to deliver this safely, giving us complete confidence in the integrity of our data throughout.”
The completed project has enabled the Trust to successfully decommission legacy infrastructure and move to a scalable archive platform designed to support future demand.
